The University of Crete has achieved an important international distinction in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject 2026.

It is ranked in the 401–500 band worldwide in the subject area of Arts and Humanities, which includes fields such as languages, literature and linguistics, history, philosophy, theology and archaeology. This distinction is closely connected with the academic fields represented by the School of Philosophy, namely Philology, History and Archaeology, and Philosophy.

This ranking confirms the University of Crete’s strong international presence, the quality of its academic work and the dynamic research carried out in the Humanities. Συγκεκριμένα, κατατάσσεται στο εύρος 401–500 παγκοσμίως στο θεματικό πεδίο Arts and Humanities / Ανθρωπιστικές Επιστήμες, το οποίο περιλαμβάνει αντικείμενα όπως οι γλώσσες, η λογοτεχνία και η γλωσσολογία, η ιστορία, η φιλοσοφία, η θεολογία και η αρχαιολογία. Η διάκριση αυτή συνδέεται άμεσα με τα γνωστικά αντικείμενα που θεραπεύονται στη Φιλοσοφική Σχολή, δηλαδή τη Φιλολογία, την Ιστορία και Αρχαιολογία και τη Φιλοσοφία.
