Discover our MOOC: Artificial Intelligence for the Humanities and Social Sciences
The TALOS – AI4SSH Lab invites you to explore the MOOC “Artificial Intelligence for the Humanities and Social Sciences”, hosted on the University of Crete Open Courses platform.
This course is specifically designed for humanists and social scientists who wish to understand and apply AI technologies in their research, without requiring any prior technical or programming background. Developed within the framework of the TALOS project, the MOOC provides a comprehensive introduction to building and applying FAIR datasets (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) using cutting-edge semantic technologies.
The course is structured into three key modules:
-Introduction Module: Exploring the fundamentals of AI, the evolution from Symbolic to Connectionist AI (Neural Networks), and the importance of AI literacy for the SSH community.
-Knowledge Graph Module: A deep dive into Knowledge Graphs, Ontologies, and Ontoterminologies, demonstrating how complex relationships in humanities data can be modeled and queried.
-Software Environment Module: Hands-on introduction to essential tools such as Protégé, Tedi, SPARQL, LEAF-Writer, and NLP notebooks in Python.
By bridging the gap between computational methods and humanistic inquiry, this MOOC empowers scholars to manage digital cultural heritage and social data with scientific rigor and ethical awareness.
