TALOS Visit to California State University, East Bay: Exploring Collaborations in AI Literacy and Educational Technology
Professor Eleni Katsarou and Dr Konstantinos Sipitanos represented the TALOS Lab during a two-day visit to California State University, East Bay, hosted by Associate Professor Earl Aguilera. They presented research on AI literacy for future teachers and NLP-based curriculum analysis, opening the way for joint projects and a forthcoming Memorandum of Understanding.

Professor Eleni Katsarou represented TALOS AI4SSH at the 75th Annual Conference of the Literacy Research Association in Las Vegas, presenting AI-powered methods for analysing and redesigning L1 curricula. Her contribution showcased how NLP and digital tools can support evidence-based reform and strengthen literacy education.
Call for Papers: SA4AW 2026 – Semantic Annotation for the Ancient World International Conference | Hybrid, May 7-8!
SA4AW 2026 (7–8 May 2026, Rethymno & online) launches its call for papers, inviting abstracts (max 1,000 words) on semantic annotation in dialogue with hybrid AI, LLMs, deep learning, and knowledge graphs for the ancient world and cultural heritage. Prof. Christophe Roche, ERA Chair Holder of TALOS–AI4SSH, will deliver an invited lecture titled “Validation of Terminology: The Contribution of Formal Approaches” at Al Wasl University’s 4th International Conference on Graduate Studies and Scientific Research (19–20 November 2025, Dubai), discussing how ontology-based methods support reliable, interoperable terminology in an AI-driven research landscape.

TALOS at the 13th National Student Conference on Archaeology: Antonia Lourentzaki on Göbekli Tepe Reliefs
TALOS Research Assistant Antonia Lourentzaki presented at the 13th National Student Conference on Archaeology, showcasing an ontology-based, AI-supported study of Göbekli Tepe reliefs and their violent animal imagery; the constructive feedback she received will guide the next steps of the TALOS knowledge graph.
New hybrid GIS Training by Alexandros Maridakis (UoC)!
TALOS Lab marks GIS Day 2025 with a hybrid, hands-on GIS workshop led by Alexandros Maridakis (University of Crete) on Tuesday, 18 November 2025, 11:30–14:30 (EEST). Participants will use QGIS and ArcGIS to map and analyze humanities and cultural-heritage data; the session is in English, recorded, and offered onsite at UCRC KEME (Building Γ2/Γ3) and online via Zoom.

TALOS Lab announces the participation of Dr. Maria Papadopoulou in the 15th Conference “Hellenic Language & Terminology” (ELETO)—co-organized with NKUA’s Department of French Language & Literature and the Technical Chamber of Greece—held 6–8 November 2025 in Athens. She will join the round table “Artificial Intelligence and Terminology,” presenting TALOS’s ISO/TC 37–aligned work on terminology, ontologies, and knowledge graphs for cultural heritage.
