The TALOS AI4SSH Lab was represented at the 27th International Symposium on Theoretical and Applied Linguistics (ISTAL27), held from May 15–17, 2026, in Thessaloniki. The international symposium provided an academic venue for sharing research developed under the Education research strand of the TALOS project and engaging with the language and educational research community.

The paper, titled “Autonomous vs Ideological Literacies in Greek L1 Curricula,” was presented by Evangelos Katis on behalf of the research team, which consists of TALOS Lab members Evangelos Katis, Eleni Katsarou, Maria Tzanaki, and Eirini Daskalaki.

The study investigates how different conceptions of literacy are represented, either implicitly or explicitly, within curriculum documents. Focusing on the current L1 Curricula for Primary and Secondary Greek Education (2023), the research team utilized Natural Language Processing (NLP) tools to systematically identify and quantify terms related to language viewed as a discrete competence versus language understood as a social practice.
