Title: “Named Entity Recognition: Theory and Application”
Abstract: This workshop will introduce the theoretical foundations and practical applications of Named Entity Recognition (NER). NER is a natural language processing technique used to identify and classify entities (such as names and locations) within text and can also be applied to extract and categorize terms. The workshop will cover the basic principles and specific methods for implementing NER, helping participants understand the characteristics and application scenarios of each method. Additionally, the workshop will discuss the importance of training custom models to meet specific needs and the steps involved in doing so. It will also provide an introduction to using the annotation tool Inception for building custom training data and correcting predictions from custom models.
Note: Attendees are advised to follow the installation instructions to install INCEpTION 34.2 (executable JAR) before the tutorial. Code will be provided to attendees, and no setup is required in advance. You can find and retrieve the workshop’s material here.
The workshop will be recorded and will be accessible via TALOS YouTube channel.
