Demetra Kasimis (University of Cambridge) to deliver lecture on “Democracy’s Parapolitics: A Conspiracy Theory of the Oikos for the AI Age”

Demetra Kasimis, Assistant Professor in Political Theory at the University of Cambridge, will deliver the lecture “Democracy’s Parapolitics: A Conspiracy Theory of the Oikos for the AI Age” on Wednesday, 1 April 2026, from 11:30 to 12:30, in Room 1, School of Philosophy, Gallos Campus, University of Crete, Rethymnon, Greece. Open to all interested participants and offered in the framework of the course AEFF152 “Euripides, Trojan Women,” the lecture will explore how ancient Greek thinkers used the language of conspiracy to make visible the hidden role of the oikos in democratic power.

Invited Lecture: Dodona Travels to Ithaca and Back — Lessons from Testing AI in Greek Epigraphy (Hybrid)

Elena Martín González (Assistant Professor, University of Valladolid) will deliver an invited hybrid lecture at the TALOS Lab (KEME/UCRC, University of Crete) on Thursday, 19 March 2026 (15:00, Greek time). Titled “Dodona Travels to Ithaca and Back: Lessons from Testing AI in Greek Epigraphy,” the talk presents results from the NextGenerationEU-funded project “Dodona Travels to Ithaca,” examining the application of the AI model Ithaca to the oracular tablets of Dodona and reflecting on the methodological possibilities and limitations of AI in Greek epigraphy.

Gaming and Literacy in the Age of AI: Perspectives and New Directions (Virtual)

The TALOS–AI4SSH Lab at the University of Crete announces the virtual event “Gaming and Literacy in the Age of AI: Perspectives and New Directions” (18 March 2026, 18:00–20:00 EET). Open to the public (registration required), the event explores how gaming environments shape meaning-making, identity, and multimodal literacies, and how these processes are being reshaped by artificial intelligence and the growing need for critical AI literacy. Reviving Antiquity in the Digital Age: An Online Talk by Rafail Giannadakis at the General Lyceum of Lechaina

Rafail Giannadakis delivered a successful online talk at the General Lyceum of Lechaina on 3 December 2025, where he presented the mission and work of the TALOS AI4SSH Lab and discussed the use of Artificial Intelligence and digital tools in the teaching of antiquarian subjects in secondary education. Drawing on examples from ancient texts, archaeology, and multimedia applications, the talk highlighted new ways of engaging with antiquity while emphasising the importance of a critical approach to generative AI.

Prof. Christophe Roche’s Invited Lecture on Terminology Validation and AI at Al Wasl University

Prof. Christophe Roche, ERA Chair Holder of TALOS–AI4SSH, will deliver an invited lecture titled “Validation of Terminology: The Contribution of Formal Approaches” at Al Wasl University’s 4th International Conference on Graduate Studies and Scientific Research (19–20 November 2025, Dubai), discussing how ontology-based methods support reliable, interoperable terminology in an AI-driven research landscape.
