The TALOS Lab inaugurates its 2026 events with a special hybrid gathering featuring Toma Tasovac (DARIAH ERIC, Director Emeritus). The event will include talks by Toma Tasovac and Stavroula Konstantopoulou (PhD candidate, University of Valladolid, and Visiting Scholar at TALOS Lab), a TALOS Award ceremony, and the traditional cutting of the New Year’s Vasilopita cake. The event brings together research exchange, community celebration, and recognition of excellence in open data reuse and Digital Humanities training.

Toma Tasovac is a prominent Digital Humanities scholar and infrastructure leader with over 25 years of experience building digital research resources and international collaborations. He is Director of DARIAH ERIC, where he leads the strategy and operations of a major European research infrastructure connecting and supporting thousands of researchers and institutions across 22 countries. He also directs the Belgrade Center for Digital Humanities, a regional hub for research, education, and public engagement.
He holds degrees from Harvard, Princeton, and Trinity College Dublin, and has led innovative projects and partnerships that improve the creation, accessibility, and reuse of digital scholarly data. His expertise spans historical and electronic lexicography, data modelling, TEI, digital scholarly editions, and the design and governance of large-scale research infrastructures, with a consistent focus on capacity building and cross-border knowledge exchange.
