We are proud to announce the success of Dr. Maria Papadopoulou, Director of the TALOS Lab, whose project PhiloGraphia: A Knowledge Graph of Ancient Wisdom from Laertius’ Lives of Eminent Philosophers was selected for funding by the University of Crete Research Committee, achieving the top score of 100/100.

About PhiloGraphia

Drawing on Diogenes Laertius’ Lives of Eminent Philosophers—a text that preserves biographies of 82 philosophers and over 250 ancient authors—the project will create a knowledge graph (KG) mapping the relationships between thinkers, ideas, and historical contexts. By applying Linked Open Data and FAIR principles, PhiloGraphia will become a valuable resource for researchers, students, and the wider public interested in ancient philosophy and its legacy.

The project will make it possible to trace the evolution of philosophical thought, discover hidden connections, and better understand how classical ideas continue to resonate today. It also strengthens the bridge between Digital Humanities and AI, ensuring accessibility and long-term impact through robust documentation and training.
