Celebrating the Successful Closing of the TALOS Summer School 2025
The TALOS-AI4SSH Lab at the University of Crete proudly celebrated the successful conclusion of the Summer School “TALOS – Artificial Intelligence for the Social and Human Sciences 2025” on September 10, 2025, at the Xenia Student Cultural Center in Rethymno.
Over the course of five inspiring days (September 3-9), 25 talented students—including 22 girls and 3 boys, from the first grade of Junior High School to the third grade of Senior High School—immersed themselves in the world of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its applications in the social sciences and humanities. The program offered a rich combination of lectures, hands-on workshops, and collaborative projects, exploring topics from AI in ancient world studies to machine learning, AI and Greek language course, and AI and arts.
A key highlight of this initiative was its focus on bridging the gender gap in technology, with priority given to female participants, inspiring more girls to pursue studies and careers in AI and the digital humanities.
Highlights from the Closing Ceremony
The summer school concluded with an engaging award and diploma ceremony. The event began with a presentation and reflection on the school’s journey by Professor Eleni Katsarou, TALOS team member and Summer School Coordinator, who shared the milestones and achievements of the week.
Following this, the instructors presented their lessons and the students presented their AI projects, demonstrating the skills and knowledge they had developed—from interactive applications to creative AI-driven analyses. The event concluded with the official awarding of diplomas, in recognition of the work, creativity, and enthusiasm of all participants, followed by a delicious buffet.
The TALOS Summer School 2025 not only provided young learners with a hands-on introduction to AI, but also fostered collaboration, curiosity, and innovation, creating an inspiring learning environment.
We congratulate all participants for their dedication and creativity, and we look forward to welcoming the next cohort of young innovators to future TALOS initiatives!
