Abstract
In this video Litao Lin offers a hands-on workshop on Named Entity Recognition.
On Monday 11th November, 2024 was held a hybrid two hour hands-on workshop by TALOS visiting scholar, Litao Lin 林立涛 (PhD candidate, Nanjing University). The title of the workshop is: “Named Entity Recognition: Theory and Application”. This workshop introduces the theoretical foundations and practical applications of Named Entity Recognition (NER). NER is a natural language processing technique used to identify and classify entities (such as names and locations) within text and can also be applied to extract and categorize terms. The workshop covers the basic principles and specific methods for implementing NER, helping participants understand the characteristics and application scenarios of each method. Additionally, the workshop discusses the importance of training custom models to meet specific needs and the steps involved in doing so. In the session is also provided an introduction to using the annotation tool Inception for building custom training data and correcting predictions from custom models.
