Open Dataset Reuse Award

Overview

TALOS AI4SSH Centre aims to fund and actively collaborate with researchers, fostering innovative research that leverages rich open datasets provided by TALOS, contibuting that way to an ecosystem that generates impactful research that support real-world applications.

Who Can Apply?

We welcome individual and group submissions from students and researchers from all career stages:

  • Students: undergraduate and postgraduate
  • Academics: junior and  senior researchers from diverse field

Program Duration

  • The initiative will run throughout 2025.
  • After December 31, 2025, a distinguished jury—comprising experts from the TALOS AI4SSH Centre network—will evaluate all submissions.
  • Results will be announced following this rigorous assessment process.

Requirements

Eligible submissions must demonstrate meaningful integration of humanities research with methods and concepts of data science, computation, and/or emerging technologies (e.g. generative AI).

Submissions may achieve this by reusing TALOS datasets to advance their arguments, or by engaging in critical, informed and original conversation about how technology impacts our understanding and interpretation of the human record.

Subject

Award to the most successful use of TALOS DH datasets.

Prize

The prize carries an award of €1,000 (per successful submission).

Time

Applications will remain open throughout 2025.
