Eleni Melina Tamiolaki

Professor of Ancient Greek Literature, Department of Philology & Deputy Director of the University of Crete Research Center (UCRC), University of Crete, Greece

Melina Tamiolaki has been recently promoted to Professor of Ancient Greek Literature at the Department of Philology of the University of Crete and Collaborating Faculty Member at Institute of Mediterranean Studies/FORTH. She is also Deputy Director of the University of Crete Research Center (UCRC) for the Humanities, the Social and Education Sciences. Her main research interests include ancient Greek historiography, political thought and the theory of history. She has published extensively on these fields and her work has been internationally recognized. She has received numerous prestigious research fellowships and grants from Greece and abroad. Over the last years, especially since the pandemic broke out, Melina Tamiolaki has developed an interest in the rapidly growing field Digital Humanities. She has organized relevant seminars, lectures and workshops at the University of Crete. Together with the ERA Chair (Christophe Roche) and the Research Group Leader (Maria Papadopoulou), she has also published some results of this new research direction in the framework of the project LACRIMALit which is hosted by the Institute of Mediterranean Studies/FORTH. She is the Co-ordinator of TALOS-AI4SSH project.
