Διόνυσος ἀποθεωθεὶς μὴ βουλομένου Πενθέως τὰ ὄργια αὐτοῦ
ἀναλαμβάνειν εἰς μανίαν ἀγαγὼν τὰς τῆς μητρὸς ἀδελφὰς ἠνάγκασε
Πενθέα διασπάσαι. ἡ μυθοποιία κεῖται παρ᾽ Αἰσχύλῳ ἐν Πενθεῖ.

τὰ τοῦ δράματος πρόσωπα· Διόνυσος, χορός βακχών, Τειρεσίας, Κάδμος, Πενθεύς, θεράπων, ἄγγελος, ἕτερος ἄγγελος, Ἀγαυή.
Διόνυσος ὁ προλογίζων.
Dionysus, having become a god, compels Pentheus—who refused to accept his rites—
to madness by driving the sisters of his mother into frenzy,
and forced them to tear Pentheus apart.
The myth appears in Aeschylus under the title *Pentheus*.
