Ὀρέστης ἐν Δελφοῖς περιεχόμενος ὑπὸ τῶν Ἐρινύων βουλῇ Ἀπόλλωνος παρεγένετο εἰς Ἀθήνας εἰς τὸ ἱερόν τῆς Ἀθηνᾶς· ἧς βουλῇ νικήσας κατῆλθεν εἰς Ἄργος, τὰς δὲ Ἐρινύας πραΰνασα προσηγόρευσεν Εὐμενίδας. παρ' οὐδετέρωι κεῖται ἡ μυθοποιία. |
Orestes, surrounded by the Furies in Delphi, came by the counsel of Apollo to Athens, to the temple of Athena. There, by her judgment, he prevailed and returned to Argos, and having appeased the Furies, he addressed them as the Kindly Ones (Eumenides). This myth is not found in either of the other poets. |
